Resizing

There are many reasons you may need a ring resized. Whatever the reason, keep this in mind: Resizing down is easier and less expensive. Resizing up is more expensive due to the material that must be added to the band. There is no “one-size-fits-all” when it comes to pricing a ring resize. We do all sizing in our shop. Your ring will not have to be sent to another service provider. Our Jewelry Repair and Resizing Experts will give you an estimate based on your resizing need and make sure your job is done with care and quality. No appointment is needed. Bring your ring in, and let us take a look.

Repairs

At Hayes Jewelers we do all types of repairs: Sizing rings, soldering chains, replacing stones in rings, bracelets, pendants and earrings.
    •  Metals: 18K, 14K, 10K in white and yellow gold, platinum and sterling silver
    •  Eye glass repair, battery and watch band replacement, most of the time, while you wait.  Or, we’ll text you when it’s ready for pick-up.
    •  Watches: Most watch brands – Crystals, stem & crowns and major overhauls. Some older watches do take a while, since finding parts is sometimes difficult.

Appraisals

Whether you keep valuable jewelry tucked away in your jewelry box or wear it every day, there is a chance that something could happen.

A jewelry appraisal gives a description and valuation of your piece. Monetary value is based on the appraiser’s experience and research on the piece’s precious metal content and any gemstones the piece may contain. Pricing on precious metals and stones changes as the market for gemstones and precious metals changes. Appraisals are necessary to determine replacement value for insurance purposes.

Unmounted gemstones are not a requirement; in fact the jewelry being appraised doesn’t even have to contain a gemstone.

The purpose of a jewelry appraisal is to give a full description of the item being appraised, as well as a dollar value which is often for insurance purposes. An appraisal might also be necessary to settle an estate or a divorce.

Market values change, so most professionals recommend you have fine jewelry appraised every three to five years. Ask your insurance agent for a recommendation.

Always seek out an appraiser who has the credentials to do a professional appraisal. Our appraisals are done by people who are certified in gemstones and precious metals and have years of experience in appraising fine jewelry.
